These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things: A COVID-19 Morale Booster

Welcome to the first week of Spring. It doesn’t much feel like it, what with the great mounds of blackened winter-grungy snow still to melt, and the COVID-19 state of emergency in our province. Everything is grey, dull, weird, and disorienting. I’ve been mostly shut up here at home for 16 days since I came down with some virus or other even before the call came for extreme social distancing (I’m feeling much better, thank you). I had drafted a useful blog about how our day jobs affect writing critiques of our own and others’ work,

but I need something fun and cheerful right now. So, instead, here are some images that are favourites of mine: some lovely creative commons illustrations and photos, some photos of my own mostly of my garden, a trip (definitely *not* my garden), and of course, our cats.

Hopefully, looking at the images will gladden you as much as they do me. And isn’t that one way we can support each other?

Keep your spirits up, folks, and we’ll see each other on the other side of this. By then, things will be green and blossoming, and the sun will be warm and gentle on our faces as we mingle on sidewalk patios. In the meantime, here’s to Spring!

MENACING ENTITY OF THE MONTH: COVID-19 (caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)).

I suppose for the sake of consistency with the previous blogs, we need a menacing entity of the month and this is what’s on everyone’s mind. Truth can be scarier than fiction. And that’s all I’m going to say about that. I’m not even going to post a picture of the virus – there’s a lot of them around right now and I’m sick of them. Instead, here’s a portal door to another reality.

Now go look back at the other pictures. Stay well, and keep each other safe.
